Bank Islam

MALAYSIA’S FIRST SHARIAHBASED FINANCIAL INSTITUTION, Bank Islam started its operations with 30 employees at Kompleks Jemaah Haji in Subang. By the end of its first financial year, it had four operating branches and more than 200 employees.

Today, Bank Islam stands proudly with more than 140 branches, nearly 1000 self-service terminals, and more than 4000 employees, offering a comprehensive range of over 70 Shariah-compliant innovative and sophisticated products and services designed to suit the evolving needs of its tech-savvy customers.

In line with its vision to be a ‘Global Leader in Islamic Banking’, Bank Islam strives to inspire and attract new customers with its variety of products and value propositions. For instance, its award-winning Transact at Palm (TAP) Mobile Banking-i is the first mobile banking service in Malaysia that enables users to perform banking transactions from any type of mobile phone without internet connection.

Bank Islam continued its journey of innovation with the introduction of e-Donation, a platform where charity donations can be made through a contactless electronic terminal. These contactless terminals are now available at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, Surau Wakaf Ahmad Dawjee Dadabhoy and at Menara Bank Islam as well as selected mosques in eight other states. “Bank Islam is planning to provide more terminals at all major mosques in every state including Sabah and Sarawak in the future,” said Bank Islam’s Managing Director, Dato’ Sri Zukri Samat.

The bank also introduced its handy Cash-Out service, where Bank Islam Visa Debit Card-i holders can make an over-thecounter cash withdrawal at selected Petronas petrol stations. The objective is to expand the cash withdrawal accessibility for customers in rural areas.
